Project Profile: Foothills Church

IMG_5644_HDROne of the projects we’re most proud of at Leon Williams Contractors is Foothills Church in Maryville.

In 2011, the church needed more space for its growing congregation, so church administrators hired us to transform an old family amusement venue into a beautiful, comfortable church building. The project included a sanctuary, café, offices, and a children’s area for the church’s Mother’s Day Out program.

Unfortunately, in December 2013, a commercial truck crashed into the children’s area, just days before Christmas. Thankfully, no one was hurt, but several of the classrooms were destroyed. Due to water pipes bursting after the crash, there was also a lot of water damage in both the children’s area and the main part of the church.IMG_5641_HDR

Dr. Trent Stewart, church pastor, called us in right away and we set to work repairing the damage. We also worked with the city to get approval for the church to hold its Christmas services that Sunday, rather than condemning the building. Once the initial repairs had been made, we formulated a plan for restoration of the building.

A blessing in disguise, the crash actually afforded Foothills Church the chance to do something they’d wanted to do for a while: expand their Mother’s Day Out program to five days a week.

Over the next four months, we got to work changing up the layout of the children’s area so that it would be more usable for the church. We also made some renovations to the lobby and the main sanctuary. The reconstruction was a huge success, and we managed to hit our target of completing all the construction before the Easter holiday.

We are thrilled that out of a disaster, Foothills Church could find an opportunity to improve their building and provide more services for church members. We’re proud of the work we did there, and hope that Foothills Church will be able to use the renovated space for years to come.
